NEW ICorr Requirements Document. (Update).
You may have heard the good news about the Institute's recent updating of the Scheme to embrace the International Marine Organisation's (IMO) requirements for inspection of the coating of ships holds and tankage. These requirements have now been brought into the ICorr Painting Inspector Level 2 training and certification.
The updated ICORR REQ DOC now includes the new syllabus for both the enhanced Painting Inspector Level 2 and the much broadened Painting Inspector Level 3 qualifications. The latest's update of the ICORR REQ DOC can now be downloaded from our web site www.argyllruane.com. ASNT Technician of the year.
Congratulations to Jordan Wood lecturer at ARL in Rotherham, who won the ASNT NATL Technician of the Year in March 2013. David Griffin, Level III services manager was on hand to present the highly acclaimed award at the annual ASNT Conference.

Five Degree's !!!
Five ARL staff have recently been awarded the new BSc NDT Degree by the Senate of The University of Northampton, the first year that this award has been made, four members of staff achieved BSc Honours with First Class (PR, MM, JM, MT) whilst the fifth achieved an ordinary Degree (RD). The award ceremony is due to take place on the 12th of February.
The five started their studies with the NDT Foundation Degree which they finished in 2009 and then completed the BSc NDT Degree Top-Up program last year.
The Degree program is taught via a flexible distance learning program, which is a very convenient method to study for a degree for people who are in full time employment.

Isotope Retrieval
It is a requirement of the Ionising Radiation Regulations (1999) that contingency plans for retrieval of radioactive isotopes used in industrial radiography are practiced on a regular basis.
