Ultrasonic Testing - (Theory/practical) 
Description
A course specifically designed for candidates wishing to become certificated as ultrasonic operators under the PCN or ASNT requirements. This course is also suitable for BGAS-CSWIP Full Ultrasonics if BGAS-CSWIP Welding Inspector and Ultrasonic Plate approvals are held.

The course may be related to either welds or wrought products and offers a high theoretical and practical content.

 

Course content:
  • Ultrasound
  • Principles of ultrasonic testing
  • The flaw detector
  • Defect location and sizing techniques
  • The use of calibration and reference blocks
  • Welding methods and associated defects
  • The use of the centre's plotting system
  • Examination of plate material and associated welds
  • Report writing and discussion of
  • relevant BS and EN standards.
Pre-requisites for attending this course:
    None. If attempting a PCN examination the requirements of PCN/GEN must be met. If attempting an ASNT examination the requirements of your company's written practice must be met.

Special Notes
    Students attending this course who wish to attempt a direct, initial approach to PCN Level 2 in Ultrasonics Welds/Wrought Products must provide the PCN Test Centre with proof of a minimum additional 40 hours formal structured on-the-job training in line with PCN syllabus requirements. If this requirement cannot be met, course RTO/UT2 is an ideal supplementary package or individual days tuition may be organised as required to meet training hour requirements without additional on-site training.
